The Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is an Ofqual regulated qualification which ehelps the learner acquire the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to be able to work in early years settings and support children aged birth to seven years. This level 2 Early Years qualification enables learners to gain knowledge and understanding of child development, safeguarding, health and safety, equality and inclusive practice and support children’s learning, development and wellbeing within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
Moreover, our Level 2 Early Years Practitioner course focuses on the key areas of Safeguarding and welfare, supporting children’s communication and development, promoting positive behaviour, supporting SEND, partnership working and planning activities and purposeful play opportunities. Do I need a placement in an early years setting to complete this course?
Yes, the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner requires learners to be having some sort of practical placement in the real early years environment in which they are working, volunteering or undertaking a practical placement whilst completing this course. The recommended period of placement hours as part of the qualification requirements is around 250 hours to provide learners with the necessary experience and confidence in early years practice. Through placement experience in an early years setting learners acquire and apply practical skills in supporting children’s learning and development, promoting safeguarding and wellbeing, supporting communication, encouraging play and following early years policies and procedures professionally. Pupils can also use the knowledge they have acquired throughout the qualification in their everyday work and responsibilities in early years provision.
Assessment for the Level 2 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner is completed through a combination of written assignments, portfolio evidence, and workplace-based observations. Learners complete assignments to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of early years practice, while practical skills are assessed within a real work environment through observation and portfolio-based evidence.
