Level 2 Award in Workskills Course Overview
The Level 2 Award in Workskills (RQF) from Focus Awards is a short, Ofqual-regulated qualification for people who want to find, keep and progress in work by managing themselves well. Employers value staff who can organise their own time, stay motivated and take responsibility for their performance, and this work skills course helps you build those habits in a structured way.
In the first unit you will set realistic goals, plan and prioritise your time, and look at self-discipline, motivation and practical ways of handling pressure and stress. The second unit, which is set at Level 3, explores why feedback matters at work, how to give feedback that is clear and constructive, and how to receive feedback calmly and use it to improve. Because the qualification is short and fully online, it fits easily around a job, a job search or other study, and it pairs well with our Level 2 Award in Employability Skills if you are also preparing for interviews.
Career Opportunities and Progression after the Level 2 Award in Workskills
Self-management and the ability to handle feedback are useful in every type of job, so this award supports you whether you are preparing to apply for work, settling into a new role or aiming for more responsibility. It gives you a recognised workplace skills qualification to add to your CV, along with practical examples to draw on in interviews and appraisals. It does not qualify you for a specific occupation, and no qualification can promise employment.
Focus Awards suggests progression to business administration qualifications at Levels 2 and 3. With Bright Pathway you could add the Level 2 Award in Employability Skills or the Level 2 Award in Employment Rights and Responsibilities, or use your stronger self-management skills to support vocational training in an area that interests you, such as care, early years or education.
Do I need a work placement to complete this course?
No. You do not need to be in work or on a placement. Some tasks ask you to show how you manage your time or how you give and receive feedback. You can use examples from work, volunteering, study or everyday life, or take part in a role play arranged with your tutor online.
There are no exams. You build a portfolio of evidence – for example worksheets, written assignments and reflective accounts – which is internally assessed by your tutor and externally quality assured by Focus Awards. Assignments are marked within 3–5 working days, or 1–3 working days on Priority Track.
You complete two units.
Unit 01: Self-management Skills
Unit 02: Giving and Receiving Feedback (Level 3 unit)
The award has 30 guided learning hours (GLH) and a total qualification time (TQT) of 60 hours. Study is self-paced, and most learners complete it in 4–8 weeks. Your enrolment includes 12 months’ access to the learning platform and tutor support from the date you enrol; if you need more time, you can extend your access for a re-enrolment fee.
Qualification Number: 601/7688/X

Frequently Asked Questions
It is for anyone aged 16 or over who wants to become more organised, self-motivated and professional at work – people preparing to find a job, those who have recently started one, and employees who want to take on more responsibility. No previous qualifications are needed.
You will learn how to set goals and plan your time, prioritise tasks, stay motivated and disciplined, and manage pressure and stress. You will also learn why feedback is important at work, how to give constructive feedback to others, and how to respond to feedback on your own work and use it to improve.
Yes. The Level 2 Award in Workskills is on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is regulated by Ofqual, the qualifications regulator in England. Your certificate is issued by Focus Awards and shows the qualification title and level.
The Level 2 Award in Employability Skills is about getting a job: preparing for interviews, assessing your skills, teamwork and rights at work. This Workskills award is shorter and focuses on how you manage yourself once you are working – your time, goals, motivation and response to feedback. The two awards complement each other.
Most learners complete the award in 4–8 weeks. You have 12 months’ access from enrolment, so you can study at a slower pace if you need to, and you can extend your access for a re-enrolment fee.
You must be aged 16 or over. There are no formal entry qualifications, but you will need reasonable reading and writing skills to complete the written tasks, and access to a device with an internet connection.
No. There are no fixed deadlines for individual assignments, so you can study at your own pace as long as you complete the course within your access period.
This qualification is awarded by Focus Awards, an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual. On successful completion you will receive a Focus Awards certificate.
